Trip Procedures

I. Tobacco, alcohol, and illegal drugs will not be tolerated. Students will be referred to the student code of conduct for disciplinary actions. In the unfortunate event of police detention the school district and band director forfeit all responsibility to the police and parent/guardian. If a student is found to be in possession of any of the aforementioned substances he/she will cease travel immediately with the band and be sent home at the next possible time at the cost of the parent/guardian. There is no place on a trip for these substances, they will be dealt with harshly and without exceptions.

II. On school sponsored trips students are expected to be at their best behavior at all times. There are no excuses for poor behavior on trips. Students will be placed under the same scrutiny and under the auspices of the student code and rules of St. Clair High School at all times during a band trip. Disciplinary action will be handled in the same manner.

III. Any student in violation of these school policies on a trip will be sent home immediately at the expense of the parent/guardian. In the unlikely and unfortunate instance of student incarceration by law enforcement, the school relinquishes all responsibility to the parent in that matter.

IV. No student may leave any school bused event with anyone other than his or her own parent. No student may drive to any school bused event.

V. Signing this form acts as a permission slip for all in-state trips during the academic year.

ONLY STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN BAND MAY SIGN UP FOR A TRIP. STUDENTS WHO LEAVE THE BAND PROGRAM ARE NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR TRIPS AND WILL NOT RECEIVE REFUNDS.
